September 2014 the updated National Curriculum became statutory. As a school we ensure that we teach all the statutory requirements.
Halfpenny Lane School promotes British Values and a Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural ethos throughout the whole school day as well as in Curriculum teaching.
Our approach is to teach a skills based ‘Creative Curriculum’ as we believe in involving our children in their learning and equipping them with the skills they will need to achieve economic well-being when they leave education. Reading, writing and maths are seeded through our curriculum projects and we link different subjects together to make learning purposeful. Our curriculum projects start with a question that is discussed with our children. This then leads in to purposeful learning opportunities that encompass the learning objectives in the national curriculum.
